This straight-sided 2-1/2-quart pan can be used for sauces and, covered with its flat lid, for stews and casseroles. Shallow (3 inches) in relation to its capacity and diameter (8-3/8 inches), this pan, unlike conventionally proportioned saucepans, exposes lots of surface and is therefore ideal for reducing sauces or even stocks and broths. Though it's not nonstick, like some Calphalon cookware, the matte-finish pan is anodized for stick-resistance as well as hardness. Metal utensils won't harm the surface. The contoured, textured handle is cast stainless steel and resists heating on the stovetop; it's also triple-riveted for durability and balance. I purchased two saucepans for Christmas gifts and after receiving them and seeing the quality, I ordered more for additional gifts. Great value and quality!

This is a nice, useful size and shape for general use. Today's Calphalon isn't as quality-insistent as it was two decades ago, and that's evident in this pot's weight and craftmanship. It's still a good one, though, and valuable for everyday use.

I am very disappointed with this product and the other Calphalon pieces I bought with it. I've had three Calphalon pieces for 2 years now and love them for how they keep an even temperature and cleanup with only a sponge. The Calphalon I purchased here is entirely different. It's very hard to keep an even temp. when cooking and the worst of all is that foods I cook in them stick and take a lot of work to clean. This pan is already a go to favorite for cooking. It is very thick and heavy and heats up fast! The hole in the handle fits over the S hook for hanging storage. This is a super pan. I bought it for my husband to cook weiners in. It is short and wide and works great for the long doggies. But I have been using it too.
