I've been buzzing my own head for roughly the past 15 years. I have thick hair and can't use many of the cheaper clippers. I've generally had good luck with Wahl clippers. The only other brand I've like were Remingtons. I do prefer the cordless clippers for convenience so that drastically narrows the selection pool. These clippers are decent. Not as strong as a set of clippers that plug in but hey, you gotta sacrifice for the cordless ability. If you got a thick head of hair, I would suggest getting the WAHL designer, A really good pair of clippers that are strong like the pair you see when you get your hair cut at the barber/salon. If you want an easy lightweight clipper with no cord get this, if you want industrial strength get the designer. I hope this helps, it would've helped me.

This clipper is more solid and powerful than consumer grade clippers. It's the same one my local barber uses and cuts through my thick hair without bogging or pulling. It can run plugged in or on the built-in rechargeable NiMH batteries. When on batteries it is a little less powerful but still cuts fine and doesn't bog in thick hair.
