I have purchased three of these. One for myself and two as gifts. I've been using mine for over a year now with no troubles. It grinds coffee well, with little mess or fuss. I shopped quite a lot before deciding to buy this model. And then found the reconditioned ones for much less. I'm not sure what was reconditioned on it, but I can't tell it from new in look or function.

We had a burr coffee bean grinder for the past six years. It's major shortcoming was the small amount of roasted beans that it held. Needing replacement, this Cuisanart has a much larger storage capacity for the beans, a real convenience. The motor seems more powerful than our old grinder yet its sound remains relatively quiet for the work it does. I bought one of these new a couple years ago, and loved it. It did perfectly, everything I wanted a grinder to do. But in less than a year, as many reviewers have posted, it just up and quit.
