Editorial Review:
Description: As legendary as Sherlock Holmes and Watson, the brilliant, curmudgeonly Nero Wolfe and his dapper sidekick Archie Goodwin use their wit, inventiveness, and flair to solve the most perplexing crimes. His imperious "seventh of a ton" lodged firmly behind his desk, Nero Wolfe rarely leaves his Manhattan brownstone, preferring instead to spend a few hours a day attending to his beloved orchid collection or feasting on the sumptuous meals prepared by his Swiss chef. Archie Goodwin is his stalwart legman, a stylish, street-smart sleuth who uncovers the clues--as well as the bodies--that let Wolfe unravel the most confounding mysteries. Sex, lies, blackmail, and murder are just part of the job when our heroes take on a case. Faithfully adapted from the best-selling novels by Rex Stout and available on DVD for the first time, the complete second season of A&E's critically acclaimed series, NERO WOLFE, stars Maury Chaykin (The Sweet Hereafter) and OscarĀ® winner Timothy Hutton (Ordinary People). DVD Features: Bonus Movie: THE GOLDEN SPIDERS; 16:9 Letterbox version of "The Silent Speaker 1&2"; Bonus Behind-the-Scenes Featurette The Making of Nero Wolfe; Interactive Menus; Scene Selection

This is another great DVD set. I was glad that you were able to get both Season One and Season Two. I have been looking forward to getting these DVD's for a long time and was pleased that you were able to get them on Amazon.com.

This is one of those rare productions that never seems to get stale. I have the complete series and have watched all of them many times. I don't think the main characters could have been cast any better. Granted, they are quirky - but also very comical. Rates right up there with Peter Ustinov playing Agatha Christies "Poirot". Agatha Christie Collection featuring Peter Ustinov as Hercule Poirot (Dead Man's Folly / Murder in Three Acts / Thirteen at Dinner)

Being a Nero Wolfe fan of long standing, I had my doubts about the series. After buying the first set, I was hooked. The 2nd season is even better! Why oh why did they cancel the series. More more! This is highly a recommended series!

The stories are more complex, and this season builds on the interactions of the primary players.

Absolutely, the best. At first, the rotating cast caused my head to spin, but I soon got the hook in the first season, and learnt Parker might not be Parker in the next episode, then it was sit back and enjoy.
Often, I read mysteries and when view them as a movie I hate the movie and wish they left it alone. The only one I recall that I enjoyed as much as the books was the elder Hutton in Ellery Queen. Wish they would bring those out on DVD. Son Tim does his father proud with the ... Read More
