Editorial Review:

Description:
Magically powerful. Supernaturally evil. The ancient entity known in human legend as Djinn can grant a person's wildest dreams. And in the process, it unleashes your darkest nightmares. The moral of this explosively terrifying, special-effects-powered, horror-fantasy spectacular: Be careful what you wish for!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Unique, colorful, somewhat amusing horror movie
I watched this and the others in the series a few times. I love the originality of the Jinn, the special effects, the script and even the humourous moments. (Gotta love "reggie" from Phantasm playing a store pharmacist and how funny it is to watch him with the bum he keeps telling to get away from the front of his store. LOL) Overall this is original and rich enough to watch more than once. Plus, I do not think the director and writers intended it to be oscar material, but to be the best for what ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Ahhhh!!!
I can't believe a movie can be so awful! Jeez... I think this is going to be a short review because there is so much lame stuff going on in Wishmaster I just feel like giving up on trying to make any points why not to watch it. Just don't watch it! Trust me!

All that happens in this movie is the Djinn (Andrew Divoff) goes around killing people with the wishes they ask for. That's it. Yeah sure you can say there is plot building as he gets more powerful, but come on!! He isn't doing anything ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Excellent to me
On the horror side this movie is not scary at all. But it is entertaining and has some very funny spots. It has a cool story and a great concept.

A demon who was imprisoned inside of a jewel is set free. When he collects enough souls he will be able to rule the world. To accomplish this he uses his powers to grant people any wish they desire. But those wishes hardly ever come out the way people want them.

This is a very fun movie with some gore. Some of the wishes are just crazy. ... Read More

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - I "WISH" it would have been better!
This movie could have been so great! It was such an original idea, and Wes Craven and Robert England were involved. But, it just wasn't. The effects and the acting, plus the gaping plot holes made me wish I hadn't watched this movie. And it REALLY made me wish my hubby had never bought it.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Could have been better
The concept of the Persian/Arab myth of the Djinn provides any creative director and writer with enormous plot opportunities. Unfortunately, neither the director nor the writer exploited them. Instead, all we got was lot's of employment opportunities for the special effects crew that specializes in rubber art mixed with syrup.

The idea of a Djinn or, "genie" in modern parlance, is exciting because you have a spiritual being who has seeming unlimited power yet is unable to exercise that power ... Read More
